Latest Feature Releases
We added a new endpoint to reach our services for our large customers sending messages from their servers to be delivered to devices using the PubNub network. This provides a number of features and optimizations specifically for this use case. Contact your customer success team if you want to make use of this endpoint.
PubNub released a major new version of our Go SDK. Check out information on upgrading to version 4 here: http://www.pubnub.com/docs/go/upgrading-to-v4
An open and extensible chat SDK and APIs for building powerful 1:1 and group chat quickly. ChatEngine is a complete framework — providing the SDK, APIs, and basic UI components to build any type of chat application on any device — backed by the security, scalability and reliability of the PubNub network.
We added support for securing your connections from MQTT devices to the PubNub network by adding support for TLS connections. This runs on the standard port 8883 used for secure MQTT.
December 4, 2017 – PubNub, the company behind the world’s leading realtime Data Stream Network (DSN), today announced that it has successfully completed the Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type II audit, for privacy, confidentiality, security and availability, conducted by Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP. This achievement provides customers with even more confidence in how PubNub manages realtime data across the globe.
As companies increasingly use outside vendors to perform activities that are core to their business operations and strategy, there is a need for more trust and transparency into cloud software providers’ operations, processes and results. PubNub received its SOC 2, Type II certification from the AICPA for meeting and adhering to the security, availability, confidentiality, and privacy standards established by its Service Organization Controls (SOC). By communicating the results of this audit, customers can be assured of their reliance on PubNub’s realtime infrastructure.
Vault provides a secure datastore for sensitive data such a API credentials, username/passwords and encryption keys. Backed by AWS's KMS, Functions Vault encrypts the data provided before storing in read-only fashion PubNub's infrastructure and only decrypts at runtime when accessed through Functions code.
As previously announced, PubNub is now SOC2 Type I compliant. This means our product is operating under very strict, best-in-class, audited processes, so we can offer our customers the highest level of security. To continue hardening our security beyond SOC 2, PubNub worked with outside, independent security auditors to perform month-long penetration testing.
We have deployed a new Storage & Playback feature that allows you to delete messages from your stored message history. You can delete whole channels, sets of channels or specific time ranges.
This enables many use cases, like supporting security compliance, a user's right to be forgotten, deleting chat messages, and more. We already have early-access customers using the feature in our REST API, and we will be rolling it out across our SDKs shortly. If you are interested in being an early access customer, let us know by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org we will be rolling it out to all customers shortly.
We know it was awkward when you went to get some coffee and had to login to the PubNub Administration Portal again when you got back, so we extended our session timeout. You can now develop code more easily in the Functions code editor without being logged out. We're also working on some upcoming changes to extend this time even further, while still maintaining our top security rating.
