# Insights dashboards

PubNub Insights organizes your app's data into dashboards at three levels: account, app, and keyset. Each level narrows the scope from your whole account down to a single subscribe key.

## Account dashboard

The Account dashboard gives a high-level view across all apps and keysets on your account. Use it to compare counts, spot patterns, and find anomalies.

Drill down to narrower views:

* Select a bar in a chart to open the Keyset dashboard.
* Select the arrow in a table row to open the App or Keyset dashboard.

## App dashboard

The App dashboard shows patterns and anomalies across all keysets in one app.

Drill down to the Keyset dashboard by selecting a bar or the arrow next to a table row.

## Keyset dashboards

Keyset dashboards show data for a single subscribe key. Standard includes four keyset dashboards; Premium includes all five.

Standard shows hourly metrics. Premium adds daily, weekly, and monthly views across all keyset dashboards.

### Snapshot

The Snapshot dashboard shows a high-level view across channels, messages, and users for your keyset. It includes an interactive map of messages and unique users by location. Select a country from the dropdown to filter the map to states or provinces.

### Channels

The Channels dashboard shows analytics for unique channels in your Pub/Sub API. Channel groups are excluded.

The Top Channels list ranks channels by three criteria:

* Number of messages
* Number of subscribers
* Number of users with messages

PubNub Insights ranks the top 20 channels in its Top Channels list. Its counts are unique values and cannot be summed. Select a single hour or date to get an accurate count.

On Premium, you can group channels by channel patterns to view aggregate metrics across related channels.

### Users

The Users dashboard shows analytics for unique users in your Pub/Sub API. Insights identifies users by their [User ID](https://www.pubnub.com/docs/architecture/core-concepts.md#user-id).

The Top Users list ranks users by:

* Number of messages published
* Number of subscribed channels

PubNub Insights ranks the top 20 users in its Top Users list. Its counts are unique values and cannot be summed. Select a single hour or date for an accurate count.

On Premium, you can track new and recurring users. Insights compares User IDs for today, this week, or this month against the prior period to identify first-time users.

### User Behavior and Devices

The User Behavior and Devices dashboard is available on Premium only. It shows how long users stay connected and what devices they use.

The dashboard includes five charts:

* **Avg User Duration.** Average time users stay connected to a channel or event during a selected hour and date range.
* **Unique Users by Duration Timeframe.** Unique users grouped into duration buckets (for example, 0–5 min, 15–20 min).
* **Top 20 Channels with User Duration by Hour.** Channels ranked by messages, subscribers, or users with messages, with average connected duration and user counts per timeframe shown for each.
* **Publishes and Subscribes by Device Type.** Publish and subscribe counts grouped by device type (iOS, Android, Windows, and others).
* **Unique Users by Device Type.** Unique users grouped by device type.

### Messages

The Messages dashboard shows message data for your channels. The key chart is Top 10 Message Types, which shows how messages are distributed across the message types your app uses.

The chart populates automatically when your published messages follow [PubNub's message type conventions](https://www.pubnub.com/docs/pub-sub/overview.md). If your payloads use a different schema, add a JSON path in Messages Configuration so Insights can identify the types you want to track.
